In today's specialized world, the simple reality is appellate courts value board-certified appellate law specialists. Koes has a solid reputation for effective appellate advocacy, helping litigants achieve success in the face of difficult and novel legal conundrums.

Koes knows appeals and is adept at rethinking the issues on appeal for successful appellate review. When taking on an appeal, his first task is to re-engineer the trial court papers and arguments by brainstorming with clients and trial counsel. Beyond the immediate goal of winning the appeal, the lens through which the appeal is viewed must also be focused on the long-term goals to ascertain whether particular legal issues should be utilized given their impact on the future state of the law in the particular industry.

A successful appellate brief is straightforward and linear in reasoning which tells the client's story without jumps in logic and in a way that makes the client's position seem inevitable. Koes works tirelessly to craft legal arguments into a solid, airtight appeal.

Koes thrives on complex, ground-breaking issues and has broad experience, representing diverse clients in a wide variety of cases. He has been involved in hundreds of appellate matters in most major areas of civil law gaining invaluable insight and innovative strategies for winning cases on appeal.

Koes also extends assistance in the litigation of cases at the trial-court level to help maximize the chance of success in future appeals by providing a unique perspective in briefing and legal analysis. In doing so, he ensures that issues of potential importance on appeal are properly developed, argued, and preserved at the trial level.
